UNFOLD is a poster design project that explores how the visual identity of cities can be translated into contemporary graphic compositions. The project began with visual research into two culturally distinct locations; Tokyo and Marrakesh, analysing their architecture, colour palettes, signage, and spatial environments. Tokyo’s energetic streets, dense typography, and neon signage contrasted strongly with the warm tones, minimal structures, and natural textures found throughout Marrakesh. This research helped shape the conceptual direction of the project, allowing each poster to reflect the atmosphere and visual language of its respective city.

Through the design process, I experimented with composition, scale, contrast, and vector illustration to create two distinct visual outcomes. The Tokyo poster focuses on bold typographic structures and graphic shapes inspired by urban signage and the rhythm of the city, while the Marrakesh poster translates architectural forms and natural tones into a simplified vector landscape. By combining research, experimentation, and digital design tools, the project reflects my exploration of how typography, colour, and form can communicate the cultural identity and energy of a place.
